K-RAUTA AND WASTE REDUCTION:
Reducing timber waste is an important factor in creating circular economy
K-Rauta in Finland started in 2019 to sell timber in fixed lengths to reduce waste and to improve customer service. Their custom-made PROF Timber is PEFC-certified domestic wood whose origin can be traced.
With the help of PROF Timber, loss on the construction site is reduced and less waste is generated. This makes working more efficient when you can order timber in just the right size: short, medium, or long. The selections include construction wood, cladding, decking, bars, lumber etc.
– The waste is reduced in many ways. Our estimate of the waste from the sawmill to the shop and from there to the construction site can be up to 10%. Waste on the construction site 10-20%. Our goal is to halve the wastege of the entire chain, says Juha Huusko, the International Category Director from Kesko Oyj, Building and Technical Trade.
